A bit of decorating

Posted on

A couple of days ago, I had the opportunity to help my friend, Leslie, do some decorating at her family’s Victorian home.  The home will be part of the local Dickens of a Christmas Home Tour next weekend.  You can read about it here: Visiting Nurses Foundation.

I took a few pictures of what we did but there will be much more before the day of the tour.

Front door with the flower pot soldiers.

Tree in the entry

Front stairway with garland.

Leslie getting ready to add ribbon to the mantle.

I apologize for the not so good pictures.  My camera couldn’t decide on an auto setting and it didn’t like any I tried either.  If you want to see more of the house check this realty listing.  It’s on the market and it can be yours!!

Thanks for visiting!  I’m eagerly awaiting the launch of Tim Holtz’ 12Tags of Christmas starting at midnight tonight!  How about you?

Grungy Monday #28

Posted on

This week Linda’s technique at StudioL3 was using alcohol inks on Ranger Foil Tape like Tim Holtz did on his pumpkin here.  I love the look of alcohol inks on metal but the camera doesn’t!  It’s very hard to get good pictures, especially here on our dark and dreary days.

I’m in an ornament swap and I wanted to make something a bit different.  I decided to make a little book with my covers using the Grungy Monday #28 technique.  It is 2 3/4 tall x 2 1/4 wide, the covers started out with a cracker box from the recycle bin and the inside pages are white cardstock.  I used my Cinch to punch the holes and bound it with jump rings.

Here’s the inside pages:

And the back cover:

Oh, and the wonderful piece of art I won from The Wendy Vecchi arrived yesterday.  I just love it.

You can read the details at Wendy’s blog: Studio 490.

Thanks so much for visiting!  I love reading your comments.   Have a happy art day!

Grungy Monday #27

I finally got this week’s Grungy Monday tag done.  I have to confess that my first try went into the trash.  I’m happy with the way this one turned out.  I wish you could see the shimmer.  You can find all details over at Studio L3.  We used a Tim Holtz technique from the 2007 12 tags of Christmas.

Christmas Button Fairy

Posted on

We’re doing a Christmas Button Fairy swap at one of my Yahoo groups.  I made this one for my partner, Shirley.

I cut the wings out of plastic packaging using Tim Holtz’ Fanciful Flight die.  I colored the solid pieces with alcohol inks and then slathered all the pieces with Stickles.  The image is from Magic Moonlight.  I decorated her hat with Stickles.  The buttons are from my embarassingly large stash.  I finished her tail off with a jingle bell.  I hope Shirley will like her.

Thanks for visiting!  Comments are very welcome.

Wow, I finally have a blog!

I’ve contemplated creating a blog for a while and I finally took the plunge.  I hope to share my artistic endeavors and various life happenings with my friends and followers.  Since I’m learning as I go, I hope you’ll let me know what works and what might need a little adjusting.

We took the grandkids to the local pumpkin patch and I’ll be using the pictures I took to make some mini albums. Thanks for visiting!
