Distress Photo Tinting – CC3C #12

Posted on

Challenge #12 at Studio L3 is an awesome way to add a vintage look to your pictures, old or new.  You can find the technique on page 41 of Tim Holtz’s  A Compendium of Curiosities, Vol.3.

Recently, we were looking through some old family photos of Dick’s.  I remembered him showing me this one of him on a horse taken 60 years ago!

dick on horse 9-27-2014 1-11-10 PMI scanned it into the computer and following Tim’s technique, I created this 5″ x 7″ canvas:

12-1 10-7-2014 1-32-55 PM

I used kraft core Core’dinations and some fun embossing folders to create the background.  A few buttons from my stash were added for the finishing touch.

The Funkie Junkie Boutique is the sponsor of Challenge 12, with a fabulous $25 shopping spree for a lucky challenge entrant.  And as in all the challenges, the “Curiosity Crew’s Choice” will chose a winner who will receive an awesome assortment Tim’s products, courtesy of Tim himself.

Thanks for coming by.  I encourage you to go visit Studio L3 to check out all the different ways the photo tinting technique has been used.

  5. Vic…this is such a wonderful canvas! I love the old photograph of Dick on the horse! The way you have made this piece is so cool! I love the distressed chicken wire background on the torn Core’dinations paper. Really gives a farm feeling. The stamping right on the photograph is very effective and the photo tinting of the trees in the background gives depth to the photograph. The wood grain background and then the blue around the edge is also very striking. Thanks for sharing with all of us at CC3C. ❤ Candy
