Colored Crackle

Posted on

Challenge #14 at Studio L3 is a very cool way to add a crackle finish to many surfaces. You can find the technique on page 53 of Tim Holtz’s  A Compendium of Curiosities, Vol.3.

The Funkie Junkie Boutique is the sponsor of Challenge 14, with a fabulous $25 shopping spree for a lucky challenge entrant.  And as in all the challenges, the “Curiosity Crew’s Choice” will chose a winner who will receive an awesome assortment Tim’s products, courtesy of Tim himself.

I created two projects using the colored crackle technique.  The first one was an up-cycled box:

Over at the Inspiration Journal blog the challenge for October is “In Disguise” and my box is a disguise of this box:

The colored crackle worked like a charm on the lightweight cardboard.  I, also, used the technique on a wooden frame.  The crackle isn’t very noticeable, I should have sealed or painted the wood first but I do like how it turned out.
