Happy Thanksgiving!

Posted on

I hope everyone is enjoying family time this weekend.  Thirty-one years ago today I gave birth to my son.  It wasn’t Thanksgiving day that year but he’s had a few times of celebrating being our family’s “little turkey!”

We’ll be taking him out to dinner on Saturday and so I wanted to create him a card.  This week’s Compendium of Curiosities Challenge 29 at Studio L3 was the perfect technique. The Texture Fade Technique can be found on page 64 of Tim Holtz: A Compendium of Curiosities, Volume 2.

Here’s the card I made:

I hope Jeremy will like it.  Thanks for stopping by.  Next week, I’ll be joining a blog hop and the little gift I’m making will be featured.

Hugs, Vic

Challenge #19

I haven’t been doing a very good job of keeping up with the Compendium Of Curiosities Vol. 2 Challenges over at StudioL3 but Linda extended challenge 19 for an extra week so I made it!  Challenge 19 is Kraft Resist – Tim Holtz: A Compendium of Curiosities 2, page 41.

I made a card for my grandson’s new second-grade teacher.  He tells me she’s really, really nice!

Be sure and head over to StudioL3 and check out all the very cool entries.  Thanks for stopping by.

Compendium of Curiousities 2 – Challenge #14

I needed a birthday card this week, so I incorporated the background created with Linda’s challenge.   Start here at Studio L3,  use the Guilded Kraft Glassine technique found on page 39 of Compendium of Curiosities Vol. 2 .  You can get a copy at Tim’s blog.     This week’s sponsor is the Funkie Junkie Boutique.

Here’s my card:

I used Picked Raspberry Distress Ink to highlight my glassine technique and to edge the cardstock blocks.

As always, thanks for stopping by for a look!

Have a fabulous day.

Compendium of Curiosities 2, Challenge 10!

Wow, it’s challenge #10 over at StudioL3.  Be sure and check out all the great art created for this week.  The details are:

Technique 10: Tissue Wrap Flowers

Tim Holtz: A Compendium of Curiosities, Vol. 2, page 37

Sponsored by The Funkie Junkie’s Boutique
Last week when I was looking through old family pictures, I found my parents’ wedding picture.  They were married at my grandparents’ house in Seattle on December 9, 1950.  I was able to find a copy of their marriage certificate online and so armed with that and the picture scanned into the computer, my project began!  I created this 8″ x 10″ canvas:
Here’s a couple of close-ups:
Thank you for stopping by.  I hope you’ll leave a comment and let me know what you think of my canvas.  The theme over at Simon Says Stamp & Show is Show a Bit of Brown, so I’ll be entering it there, as well.  I’ll also submit this to the Tuesday Treasures hop here.

Love Potion #9

Posted on

Well, my title is actually about Compendium of Curiosities 2, Challenge 9.  Check out the details and great art being shared over at StudioL3.  The technique can be found on page 35 of  Tim Holtz: A Compendium of Curiosities, Vol. 2.  This week’s challenge is sponsored by Simon Says Stamp.

My title reference to love potion #9 refers to my relationship with my dad.  We were tight buddies nearly all my life and although he passed away years ago and the last couple years of his life were rocky, I have times when I’d give anything to visit with him again.  I was looking through old photos and came across this one of my dad and me at an east coast beach in 1954.

Here’s my finished piece.  I kept it fairly simple, some Antique Linen Distress Stickles for sand and three little beach-themed buttons.  I did add it to a large bead chain so I have a new necklace to wear.

I’m submitting my project to Simon Says Stamp and Show Anything Goes Challenge, also.

I hope you’re having a great day.  Thanks for stopping by and I’m always thrilled with your comments.

P.S. Happy Father’s Day, Daddy from your Sweet Petunia.  (Got me ice cream every time! LOL)

Tissue Wrap Collage – Challenge #6

This week’s Compendium of Curiousities Vol. 2 at Studio L3 is Tissue Wrap Collage.  The fun technique is on page 38.  I made a tag.

I used the new Spring Distress Ink Set, I just love these colors!  They are available at this week’s challenge sponsor: The Funkie Junkie’s Boutique.

Thanks for stopping by.  There’s still time for you to join in this week’s challenge, #7 will start tomorrow morning!

The challenge this week at StudioL3 is Shattered Stains found on page 48 of Compendium of Curiosities Vol. 2.  We learned this technique in the Creative Chemistry 101 class, too.  Simon Says Stamp is sponsoring this week’s challenge.

I made a 9″ x 5″ mat board piece.  I used Distress Stains for the background, stamped with Archival Ink and used stamps from Studio 490 (Wendy Vecchi) and Ranger (Claudine Hellmuth).

I used some of Tim’s Movers & Shapers to cut my grungeboard shapes.  Here’s a close-up of the shattered stains:

I’m entering my piece in the following additional challenges: Everything Wendy Yahoo Group MAC #42,   Simon Says Stamp and Show … Anything Goes! and Inspiration Journal Bring on the May Flowers.

Thanks for visiting and leaving a comment – I just love them!
