My fabulous day

Posted on

Today was my birthday and it turned into a great day.  I woke to a card (with always the right color & size cash in it) and a big box of chocolates.

I received “happy wishes” texts from the family in the afternoon, then a delicious prime rib dinner at a favorite restaurant.

During the day I finished the Creative Chemistry 102 reference book that I posted about over two and a half years ago when I started the cover!  You can read that post here.  I finished the cover with some die cuts, added some tabs to the dividers and then used my Cinch to assemble the book.

I’m happy to have an easy reference to the techniques and lessons from CC102.  I’ll be putting it to use as I work on the challenges for the Summer of Creative Chemistry.

A few days ago my friend delivered this beautiful fairy garden basket.  I just love it.

I hope you had a wonderful day.  Here’s to a great and art-filled week ahead,

Happy 4th of July!

Posted on

The Summer of Creative Chemistry continues with Creative Chemistry 102!  This week’s challenge is to create with three or more colors of Distress Paint.  I used two of Tim’s techniques to create some cards.

I used the monoprint technique with Salty Ocean, Faded Jeans and Candied Apple Distress Paints to create the background for this card.

The same paint colors and marbling created the background for these three cards.  I used one piece of paper and cut it apart to make the cards.

This last one has stars stamped with Brushed Pewter and sprinkled with Pumice Stone Distress Glitter.

I’m having fun going back and visiting the techniques from past Creative Chemistry  classes and looking forward to Creative Chemistry 103.

I hope everyone has a safe & happy 4th of July.  God bless the U.S.A.

Creating with Tim!

Posted on

Tim Holtz is having the Summer of Creative Chemistry going on at Online Card Classes.  Reviews of Creative Chemistry 101 & 102 are going on right now, CC 103 will begin August 1.  As part of the reviews, Tim has been issuing challenges using techniques learned in the classes.  This week the challenge was to use Ranger Archival Ink.  I created these three note cards:

tim - yupo & ai background cards 6-26-2016 6-25-00 PM

I used Tim’s technique featured over at the Ranger site, using alcohol inks on Yupo paper to create the background.  I had recently purchased some Yupo and decided to give it a try.  I followed Tim’s instructions including stamping (and embossing) using Archival Ink but then finished off my cards a bit differently.

I love how they turned out.  They are ready to add a personal note inside, pop in an envelope and mail to someone in my thoughts.

I’m adding these to the Summer Of Creative Chemistry week 4 challenge gallery.

Thanks for stopping by for a look at my latest creation, your comments make me smile.

Happy Birthday, Linda!

My friend is having a birthday and I made her a card to celebrate the day.

I shared some art supplies with her and needed a bag to put them in. I had this white gift bag on my desk waiting for an idea to cover up a stain.  I taped it down to my craft sheet, added some blended Distress Inks and stamped with Ranger Archival Jet Black ink.  I was very pleased with how it turned out.

Here’s wishing Linda a very happy birthday.  I hope it’s a day with food, art and wine!

Thanks for visiting my blog.

Faded Layers & Cracked Glass

Posted on

Challenge #4 for Compendium of Curiosities Vol. 2 is a fun one, we used the Faded Layers technique on page 43.  Be sure and head over to Studio L3 and check out all the fabulous entries.  This week I made a tag:

In addition to Distress Inks, I used paint dabbers, Perfect Pearls Mist, Stickles and Movers & Shapers Dies.

Over on the Everything Wendy Vecchi Yahoo Group we had a challenge to use a cracked glass technique.  I used one Wendy shared on her blog, Studio 490.  I love how my bottle turned out!

I started with a sea salt bottle.  A bit of paint, some Sticky Back Canvas, ink and stains and I have a cute little “vase of flowers” for my art spot.

Thanks for taking the time to stop by.  I love your kind comments.

Grungy Monday 39 (on Sunday)!

Posted on

Linda over at StudioL3 offered up a fun challenge for Grungy Monday 39.  We used the technique from Tim’s 2009 12 Tags of Christmas Day 3.  I used my backgrounds for two fun cards:

The stamp is from Crackerjack Palace and the sentiment is from Too Much Fun Rubberstamps.

Thanks for stopping by.  I’ll have some more projects to share later in the week.
