My fabulous day

Posted on

Today was my birthday and it turned into a great day.  I woke to a card (with always the right color & size cash in it) and a big box of chocolates.

I received “happy wishes” texts from the family in the afternoon, then a delicious prime rib dinner at a favorite restaurant.

During the day I finished the Creative Chemistry 102 reference book that I posted about over two and a half years ago when I started the cover!  You can read that post here.  I finished the cover with some die cuts, added some tabs to the dividers and then used my Cinch to assemble the book.

I’m happy to have an easy reference to the techniques and lessons from CC102.  I’ll be putting it to use as I work on the challenges for the Summer of Creative Chemistry.

A few days ago my friend delivered this beautiful fairy garden basket.  I just love it.

I hope you had a wonderful day.  Here’s to a great and art-filled week ahead,

Happy 4th of July!

The Summer of Creative Chemistry continues with Creative Chemistry 102!  This week’s challenge is to create with three or more colors of Distress Paint.  I used two of Tim’s techniques to create some cards.

I used the monoprint technique with Salty Ocean, Faded Jeans and Candied Apple Distress Paints to create the background for this card.

The same paint colors and marbling created the background for these three cards.  I used one piece of paper and cut it apart to make the cards.

This last one has stars stamped with Brushed Pewter and sprinkled with Pumice Stone Distress Glitter.

I’m having fun going back and visiting the techniques from past Creative Chemistry  classes and looking forward to Creative Chemistry 103.

I hope everyone has a safe & happy 4th of July.  God bless the U.S.A.

Creating with Tim!

Posted on

Tim Holtz is having the Summer of Creative Chemistry going on at Online Card Classes.  Reviews of Creative Chemistry 101 & 102 are going on right now, CC 103 will begin August 1.  As part of the reviews, Tim has been issuing challenges using techniques learned in the classes.  This week the challenge was to use Ranger Archival Ink.  I created these three note cards:

tim - yupo & ai background cards 6-26-2016 6-25-00 PM

I used Tim’s technique featured over at the Ranger site, using alcohol inks on Yupo paper to create the background.  I had recently purchased some Yupo and decided to give it a try.  I followed Tim’s instructions including stamping (and embossing) using Archival Ink but then finished off my cards a bit differently.

I love how they turned out.  They are ready to add a personal note inside, pop in an envelope and mail to someone in my thoughts.

I’m adding these to the Summer Of Creative Chemistry week 4 challenge gallery.

Thanks for stopping by for a look at my latest creation, your comments make me smile.
